Does a trial stopping early mean the treatment failed?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Trials stop early for many reasons: funding, slow enrollment, business decisions, or safety signals. A study ending early, on its own, does not tell you whether a treatment works. The recorded reason, when available, is shown on each trial's page.

What does "did not meet its primary endpoint" mean?

Accepted Answer

It means the study's single main pre-defined goal was not achieved at the statistical bar set in advance. That is important, but it is not the same as the drug not working: secondary measures, specific subgroups, or later trials can still matter. Results always need expert interpretation.

Why do you keep trials that are no longer recruiting?

Accepted Answer

Following a study through to its results is part of understanding it. We keep completed, terminated, and withdrawn trials so you can see what happened, and we link to official results and publications as they become available.
