Plain-Language Summary

The goal is to ease urgency, frequent daytime urination, and nighttime trips to the bathroom that many people with Parkinson's experience. The approach uses guided pelvic floor muscle exercises combined with mild electrical stimulation, the exercises strengthen the pelvic muscles and the stimulation helps calm overactive bladder nerves so the bladder can hold urine better, and because it is non-drug it does not interact with levodopa. They are enrolling adults 18 and older with Parkinson's who report lower urinary tract symptoms, have had stable Parkinson's medications for at least three months, and can read Dutch and attend pelvic physical therapy. People with other neurologic diseases, recent pelvic surgery or cancer treatment, current urinary infection or pregnancy, recent Botox, PTNS, or pelvic physiotherapy, or implanted devices like sacral stimulators, pacemakers, ICDs, or deep brain stimulators are excluded.
