Reduce tremor with vibrotactile stimulation

Trial ID
NCT05830110
Official Title
Patterned Multichannel Vibrotactile Stimulation for the Longitudinal Treatment of Moderate Stage Parkinson's Disease
Goal
Reduce tremor with vibrotactile stimulation
Phase
NA
Status
RECRUITING
Sponsor
Synergic Medical Technologies, Inc.
Study Type
INTERVENTIONAL
Enrollment
30 participants
Conditions
Parkinson's Disease
Interventions
Active Vibrotactile Coordinated Reset, Sham vibrotactile coordinated reset

Plain-Language Summary

The goal is to reduce motor problems like tremor, stiffness, and slowness by disrupting the abnormal synchronized brain rhythms that contribute to moderate Parkinson's symptoms. The approach uses a noninvasive device that delivers patterned, multichannel vibrations to the skin in a "coordinated reset" pattern to desynchronize overactive neural circuits, it is tested against a sham device and does not contain drugs so it does not directly interact with levodopa, although improving neural rhythms could reduce symptoms people treat with medication. About 30 people aged 45 to 90 with bilateral, moderate idiopathic Parkinson's who can undergo EEG procedures are being sought, and anyone on dopamine agonists with compulsive behaviors is excluded.
