Study Type
OBSERVATIONAL
Enrollment
40 participants

Plain-Language Summary

The goal is to see whether ocular microtremor, a tiny involuntary eye jitter, can serve as an objective sign to detect or monitor Parkinson's disease. Researchers will noninvasively record these very small, constant eye movements that reflect brainstem motor activity and compare patterns in people with suspected or confirmed Parkinson's to healthy controls. There is no drug or therapy to take part in, measurements are taken alongside usual care and should not interfere with existing Parkinson's treatments. The study is enrolling about 40 adults aged 18 and older, including people with suspected or confirmed Parkinson's and healthy controls, but it excludes those with prior head injury, ocular disease like cataracts, significant psychiatric conditions, or dementia (MoCA score under 21).
