# Improve walking with remote touch

**Goal (in five words):** Improve walking with remote touch

**Official Title:** Enhancing Parkinson's Disease Rehabilitation Through Remote Haptic Guidance: Field Study

**Trial ID:** [NCT07457710](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT07457710)

## Key Facts

- **Phase:** NA
- **Status:** RECRUITING
- **Study Type:** INTERVENTIONAL
- **Sponsor:** Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
- **Target Enrollment:** 20 participants
- **Start Date:** 2026-03-25
- **Completion Date:** 2027-06-30
- **Conditions:** Parkinson's Disease (PD)
- **Interventions:** Haptic device, Non-haptic device
- **Intervention Types:** DEVICE

## Summary For Families

Aiming to boost movement control during rehab, the trial tests whether remote haptic guidance helps people with Parkinson's perform movements more accurately and engage better in therapy compared with a non-haptic device. Participants use a haptic device that sends touch or force cues to the hands and head from a distance to guide reach, posture, and timing, while the comparison device provides no tactile guidance; the idea is that tactile cues can help retrain motor patterns and improve movement precision. The study is enrolling 20 adults with Parkinson's, age 18 or older, in Hoehn and Yahr stages 1 to 3, who live in the 48 contiguous U.S. states and can move their hands and head and sit upright for up to an hour.
