# Identify why physical activity declines

**Goal (in five words):** Identify why physical activity declines

**Official Title:** Physical Activity in Persons With Parkinson's Disease - a Longitudinal Cohort Study

**Trial ID:** [NCT07585409](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT07585409)

## Key Facts

- **Status:** RECRUITING
- **Study Type:** OBSERVATIONAL
- **Sponsor:** Karolinska Institutet
- **Target Enrollment:** 450 participants
- **Start Date:** 2026-01-15
- **Completion Date:** 2030-12-31
- **Conditions:** PARKINSON DISEASE (Disorder), Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviors

## Summary For Families

The goal is to understand how physical activity and sedentary behavior relate to symptoms and progression in people with Parkinson's, so clinicians can better tailor activity advice and spot early signs of decline. The approach is observational, following a cohort over time with repeated physical activity and clinical assessments to map movement patterns and symptom changes rather than testing a drug or device. They are looking for adults 18 and older with idiopathic Parkinson's at Hoehn and Yahr stages 1 to 4, excluding those who are wheelchair bound or bedridden (H&Y 5) or unable to complete the critical activity and clinical tests. The study plans to enroll about 450 people and starts in January 2026.

## Eligibility

- **Minimum age:** 18 Years
- **Sex:** ALL
