# Ambroxol Clinical Trials for Parkinson's

Ambroxol is a cough medicine used for decades in many countries that researchers are now repurposing as a possible Parkinson's treatment. The interest centers on its effect on an enzyme called glucocerebrosidase (GCase), which is reduced in many people with Parkinson's, especially those with GBA gene changes.

By raising GCase activity, ambroxol may help brain cells clear the alpha-synuclein protein that builds up in Parkinson's. Early trials have tested whether this translates into a slower disease course in people.

Below are the recruiting trials we track that involve ambroxol. Sign up to be emailed when a new ambroxol trial opens.
