# Exenatide Clinical Trials for Parkinson's

Exenatide is a GLP-1 receptor drug originally approved for type 2 diabetes, sold under names like Bydureon and Byetta. It is one of the most studied repurposed drugs in Parkinson's research because early trials suggested it might slow the disease rather than only treat symptoms.

A larger Phase 3 trial (Exenatide-PD3) reported in 2024 did not show a clear benefit on motor symptoms compared with placebo, but the GLP-1 approach remains an active area of research, with newer drugs in this class still being tested.

Below are the recruiting trials we track that involve exenatide. Sign up to be emailed when a new exenatide trial opens.
