# Tavapadon Clinical Trials for Parkinson's

Tavapadon is an investigational once-daily pill being developed by AbbVie as a new kind of dopamine agonist for Parkinson's. Unlike the older agonists, it selectively targets the D1 and D5 dopamine receptors, an approach that early trials suggest may carry a lower risk of impulse-control problems and sudden sleep attacks.

The pivotal TEMPO trials tested tavapadon both on its own in early Parkinson's and as an add-on for people already on levodopa with OFF time. AbbVie filed for FDA approval in late 2025, so the focus now is on long-term extension and post-marketing studies that may still be enrolling in some regions.
