# Clinical Trials for People Not Yet on Parkinson's Medication

Some Parkinson's trials specifically enroll people who have not yet started medication — often called "levodopa-naïve", "treatment-naïve", or "untreated". Researchers look for this group because it lets them measure a new treatment's effect without the influence of existing Parkinson's drugs.

If you have recently been diagnosed and are still deciding when to begin treatment, these studies may be especially relevant. Taking part does not usually mean going without care — many trials still allow you to start standard medication if and when you need it.
