# Stem-Cell and Cell Therapy Clinical Trials for Parkinson's

Stem-cell therapy is one of the most talked-about frontiers in Parkinson's research. The idea is to replace the dopamine-producing brain cells lost to the disease using new cells grown from stem cells, rather than only compensating for the dopamine that is missing.

These are early-stage, surgical studies focused first on safety and on whether the transplanted cells survive and work. They are a fundamentally different approach from a pill, and the field is moving quickly.
