Link brain activity to mood

Trial ID
NCT05820425
Official Title
Local Fields Potentials of the Subthalamic Nucleus in Patients With Parkinson's Disease and Neuropsychiatric Fluctuations
Goal
Link brain activity to mood
Status
RECRUITING
Sponsor
University Hospital, Grenoble
Study Type
OBSERVATIONAL
Enrollment
12 participants
Conditions
Parkinson Disease
Interventions
LFP and EEG recording

Plain-Language Summary

The goal is to find electrical patterns in the subthalamic nucleus and on scalp EEG that line up with neuropsychiatric fluctuations like mood swings or cognitive shifts in people with Parkinson's. Investigators will use the PerceptĀ® DBS system to record local field potentials from the implanted STN electrode, along with EEG and symptom questionnaires, to match real brain activity to patients' reported ups and downs while people stay on their usual therapies. They are looking for people aged 30 to 75 with Parkinson's who have motor fluctuations or dyskinesias, had bilateral STN Percept implantation within the past 10 days, can complete an OFF-state questionnaire, have no dementia (MoCA > 24), and no active psychosis or pregnancy.
